FLYWHEEL QUESTIONS ...

I have a friend of mine who needs to locate a flywheel for a Cockshutt 540 that has the little Continental flathead engine (gas). So far he has totally struck out after contacting a number of wrecking yards. Does anyone out there know if that flywheel was a one-of-a-kind flywheel or did it show up on other Cockshutt models, perhaps earlier ones like the Cockshutt 30 maybe? The flywheel is about 14 1/4" in diameter and it has 112 teeth. He was told that there were two sizes of flywheels for the 540 and this was the large version (with a smaller starter). Any advice or leads you could supply would be appreciated. He is the supervisor of a youth camp and with the snow we've had, he's getting desperate.

If you are parting out a 540 I would be interested in the crown and pinion gears. My son has a 550 and as far as I have been able to find out those two gears are the same. We put new bearings and one gear in this one but would like to have a few spare parts.

If you are parting out your 540 I"d be intersted in the crown and pinion for spares.

Hi Gary: I also am looking for a part for my Cockshutt 540, and would be interested if you have parted out yours. I need the coupler and the 16 tooth gear that connects to the hydraulic pump on the right front side of the engine. Please let me know if you can help. Craig
