Is anyone aware of problems with Oliver 1750 diesel tractors? What would one in great shape and good tires, with 5000 hours be worth? What category 3-pt does it have?

Any 1750 owner's out there?

I've heard of a lot of them breaking crankshafts.

1750s were good tractors aside from the mentioned crankshaft problems. The cranks were not properly dynamically balanced in a vast majority of the 310 cu. in. Oliver/Waukesha diesels. This caused premature engine failures which usually meant broken cranks or rods protruding through the blocks. Any owner of one of these engines should take the little time and expense to remove, inspect, and have the crankshaft properly balanced by a qualified machine shop. Once this is done, the 310 diesel will perform great. Now if your tractor has 5000 hours on it and hasn't been recently overhauled, perhaps this has already been done. I have never heard of an improperly balanced 310 lasting 5000 hours; usually 3000 is an average life. Balance the crank and you can expect to get much longer life from the engine. I don't know what one would be worth without actually seeing it (and hearing it run).
