Hi Shep,

If my brother-in-law and I convert this 1750 to a Cummins 6.9 are we better off to put it in an 1850 frame or is that only if we found a used Perkins? Someone has made us a nice offer on a used 1850 frame.

If you can find an 1850 Perkins frame that is the way to go. You can use the 1750 frame but you have to cut out the engine mounts and the bottom of the tub, because you want to mount the oil sump on the oil pan in the back when you put the Cummins in. I have changed the frame on the ones that I have done, it works a lot better. Buy several 11/16 12 point sockets, you will bust about two of them trying to get the bolts out where the tractor splits. My snap-on man loves me when I have to take a frame off :-) Also you will want to try to get the 1850 Diesel bell housing off of the 3 speed or the hydra power, because you will need this to bolt up to the Cummins bellhousing.

Let me know if you decide to tackle this, I have done a few and can help you if you get stuck.
