What are your thoughts about a 1977 1755 diesel. Thoughts about the engine etc.

I am a fan of the properly rebuilt 310 Waukesha. See related comments on the previous post page to others on this subject.

The last year the 1755 was built was 1975. Last one was s/n 260 346.

I have a 1755 and love it. I rebuilt my engine with the updates. The hydrolics work great fast at idles and good presure over heating has not been a trouble. runs on about 2 to 2.5 gallons an hour full throttle on a tox o wik 570. If you can ask if the coolent had been changed or tested on a regular basis electrolisis is a major problem. I mostly plant cultivate and use it on pto work and any other thing that comes up workes great. I only wish it was a MFWD. Check the condition of the chain cupler.

My personal opinion is that it is a decent tractor, the engine from the factory was not the best but it can or could have been fixed to work well with the engine updates. It was not the worst of the 310 Waukeshas that were out there because it did not have a turbo on it. Watch for hydraulic leaks, it has an open center hydraulic system that is known to leak and over heat. Other than that if you have specific questions let us know.

Check the archives about the 1755 or the 310 Waukesha engines, there is lots of good past conversations about both.

Shep, I thought the 1755 , like the 1855 and 1955 , had a closed center hydraulic system . Am I wrong ? Sam

Shep,

wasn't there something about 1755s made after i think 1976 that makes them better in the engine than the previous years (of course assuming no rebuild). I think i saw that posted here one time but of course when i want to find it i can't. Thanks for the help.
