I'm shopping for a tractor to mow weeds, blade
snow, and feed big round bales. Olivers seem to
have a good reputation around here, and fit my
price range. I know of three for sale, a 1600
gas, a 1550 gas, and a 1755 diesel. Haven't
looked at any of them yet, but was wondering about
the significant differences between the models,
other than age and horsepower? Are they all the
same physical size?

There's a 1600 sitting in a junkyard nearby. Are
many parts interchangeable between the 1600 and a
1550 or 1755?

We've got all three tractors on our farm and I think that the 1600 is most useful. It has great hydraulic lift capacity and it is just the right size to get places where some tractors cant.

Not maney parts are interchangeable, the 1550 has a 770 engine in a tractor with the old slideing gear transmission. The 1600 has a constant mesh shift collar transmission with a 880 engine. The 1755 has the 310 engine with new style closed center hydrolics. If in good shape the 1600 drives the best if it has the new style power steering. It can get to be a pain to shift the 1550 doing lots of chore work. The 1755 would have the best hydrolic and lift capacity if your round bales are large.
