How hard would it be to find a narrow front for a cockshutt 1550 or is it a 1650.Not possitive on the number we have all IH at home.

But there's nothing wrong with a good running unit like oliver or cockshutt.Any and all are good when there running.

A fellow down the road from home has wide front now but would like to convert it. He said the wide front does not turn short enought for planting.Years ago they had a narrow front oliver that was great for planting. Any help Thanks in advance

That guy must have something wrong it's no problem turning this tractor.I have planted 4 row wide and 6 row narrow with a 1550 and 1650 for 25 years And turning is not a problem.I have evan used my 1850.The big problem I find is the tie rods are adjusted wrong. The tractors will turn sharper one way and not the other. The oldest style manuel steering can be assembled wrong allowing it to turn one way and the stops will prevent it from turning the other.

You could be right about this. Also he said something about the center yoke that pushes and pulles the tie rods that there maybe a longer arm type. He was told this but the dealer can't get one for him.Maybe in one of the bone yards if lookes. Thank's
