Can an Oliver RC 70 4-speed transmission be converted to a 6-speed by just adding the 5th and 6th gears?

Thanks Mack, Jerry and Scott for your thoughts. I presumed that 5th & 6th were left out as the 70 Manual said that 6-speed was standard in 1944 and this 70 is a 1940. The manual also detailed the removal of the spacer on steel wheeled units for fifth and sixth. I will have to crack it open to know for sure. I'd still like to have 5th & 6th, what ever the case. So, can they be added?

Unless I am way off base here, I think all 70's had 6 gears. The 5th and 6th were locked out on tractors with steel wheels with a block on the shifter rail to prevent going into the higher gears. Removal of the block will allow the gears to function.
Like I said I might be way off base on this one though.

there are two sets of gears on 70s u go up between i cant remember which two gears it is but then it puts you up into the lower holes if im not mistaken its between 3rd and ur highest gear that you have you might want to have an old farmer that has had a 70 all of his life show you how to get up in it takes a lot of practice to get there trying to pull a hay wagon in 3rd gear on a hill seamed fast and was luggin too much to be in low gear cause my brothers 66 went good it would pull more than my 70 either buy a shifting pattern or have an old guy that has had one of the 70s for a long time if that dont help im sorry thats all i know.
