Does anyone know where I can find parts to rebuild the Char-lynn torque generator that was used for power steering on late model Super 55s and early 550s? In particular, I am looking for the centering springs (U-shaped spring steel) that are vital to proper operation.

I know that Char-lynn still exists through Eaton Corp. Perhaps someone can provide modern cross references, or leads to exploded parts diagrams with old Char-lynn parts numbers.

Any help or leads are appreciated.

Thanks,
Mike

Mike,
Try Pederson-Sales 1-800-247-7259. Thats an old number. If it doesn't work, try (515)-573-8129 (Fort Dodge Iowa) or (612)-894-2020 (Burnville Minnesota).
My book shows a Centering Spring P/N 370 with a quanity of 6. For info only. Verify what you need before ordering.

Hope this helps,
K-Mo

I work for Eaton, and have never seen any old CharLynn stuff lying around, but that doesn't mean there isn't any. If you have the peices of the old spring, and it's just a flat pc of spring steel bent into a U shape, you can make a spring fairly easily. If it's more complex, you might want to contact a spring supplier like Smalley if you can't get the parts through a dealer.
