I need Help indentifying my tractor

I just purchased my first Oliver. At least I HOPE it's an Oliver. (This is my first tractor and I'm new at this) On the right side of the block are the numbers 983528 with a C O H under them and a N 046 under that. On the right side of the Gear box are the numbers 588700. Does anyone have any idea what the model number and year are? It has a non-adjustable wide front end, 3-point hitch, and a PTO. To top it off it has a Fiat motor. Since I'm new to this, with all the part and serial numbers all over this thing I'm not sure where the Model and year numbers are. I've looked everywhere I can think for a tag, but cannot find one. Could someone help point me in the right direction? I need to get a starter and a seal(and of course a manual) for it. Thanks

A couple of things to look at.

If it is a Fiat (Oliver), a 1265 or 1365, there are some telltales.

It has to be a diesel. The tach says Fiat in it. There are 2 levers for the PTO - one selects engine / neutral / gearbox, and is on the floor by the seat. THe other is a long lever just to the left rear of the dash, this is the engage lever. The 3 point lift arms have the balls on the end retained by plates with 2 metric bolts (a 3/8" nut will NOT thread on). The trans is a 4 speed with a high/neutral/low lever, similar to Massey's.

1250 / 1265 / 1270 uses a 3 cylinder, 1365 / 1370 uses a four, and runs 30" rear rims. THe starter switch and the key are separate. The 1250's were the first attempt, over 300 changes were made for the 1265's. The 1250's are generally considered junk in the making.

Sound familiar?

If it is a Fiat, Allis-Chalmers sold the identical tractor. Parts ar eavailable although expensive.

sounds like it may be a 1255 or something along that line. If it's got a fiat, good luck getting any needed parts, they're extremely hard to find.
