bad clutch, could someone tell me how to pull the long shaft? 1650 gas

Do you have a shop manual?? The shop manual tells how do do this.

Are you talking about the engine clutch and the PTO drive shaft? If so you need to remove the cover from the PTO clutch, it is above the PTO shaft in the back. There are 4 bolts that come up from the bottom that hold the cover on. Then remove three bolts that hold the brg. and shaft in place. They are behind the PTO clutch. You can now pull the shaft out the back. WB.

The above instructions will only work if you have a dry clutch,like a 1600 would have.With the wet one remove the 4 bolts to the rear then remove the snapring as said below.

You need to remove the snapring inside that holds the shaft in,or remove the whole gearbox,or split the tractor.The first time I saw it I thought it was impossible. the dealer mechanic said he couldn't do it.Now that I have done it a few times it doesnt bother me.You need to make 2 tools each with a 90% bend on the end,I used small old screwdrivers.Use these to pry the snapring.

I should have added it helps if you can hold another screwdriver in your mouth along with a mini flashlight.
