I do a one row corn operation in Ga, recently sold
my tractor and have been in market for another, a
buddy of mine ran across an Oliver, I have never
owned one but have seen many along the way - I do
not know its model # but plan to go look at it today - I know its gas, maybe 25-30 hp range, good
tires, needs paint but runs good, 3pt, I believe
6F and 2R with shifter top and bottom from des-
cription over phone - any advice from you fellows
on what to check for whould be appreciated.
Thanks, Allen R, (Ga)

I would stay from the 1250/55 through 1450/55 tractors. They were made by Fiat for Oliver and parts can be a real hassle to locate.

Tractor is Oliver 1540 Gas, no one was home so I
could't crank it, but pending engine good, trans
good, hydralics good as reported - the tractor is
wide front, one new rear tire-other good tread but cracked, front tires good, missing front grill, fenders and hood shroad looked good, 3pt
hardware looked very good, all lights on tractor,
original paint but dull, good seat -- what would
you fellows think ball park price range???
Thanks...

Hi Allen. Look on the tractor's frame just above where your left foot goes on the clutch pedal. There you should see the Oliver identification plate that will list the serial and specification numbers. From these you can figure out what it is.
