My 1650 diesel came back from mowing one day last week and the front main seal must have quit its job of keeping the oil in the engine. My question is do I need to take the front cover off to replace the seal or can I do it by just pulling the front pulley and install a new seal in the cover from the front?
Thanks for any help on this one. Nick

The book says you have to remove the timeing cover. However this may not be the case on later model tractors.Check and see if your pully is loose that is a cause of quick seal failure.
