Help I.D. my Oliver OC3-42 IND crawler engine, PLEASE!

I'm desperately seeking ignition parts for my Oliver crawler; the local Napa, Carquest and Bumper to Bumper can't seem to I.D. my distributor. There are no Oliver dealers anymore; (did anyone out there not know that?). In fact they can't even find the crawler in their books. The distributor is a Delco-Remy w/ I.D. # 1111736 2M9. That should show up somewhere? The engine is another matter. The I.D. plate is really rusty; I've popped it off and found the following numbers from the back side: S5 (upper rt. corner); IXB5 (middle left); 3-1/4X4 (middle right); 2472129 (middle near bottom); 003 (bottom middle); 006 (bottom right). The head has ASKE on it & 39237; it also has 3243 (looks like a casting #). Anyone out there able to tell me anything? Any suggestions for getting new ignition parts if my locals fail to figure it out? Your time and effort are greatly appreciated!

An ignition-related question. My recently-bought
OC 3-42 (unknown year) has the two lower plug wires disconnected from the magneto. The upper right wire (looking at the magneto from the rear of the tractor) is connected to plug #1 (assuming the cylinders are numbered from front to back), the upper left wire is connected to plug #3. But I'm suspicious that NONE of the wires are properly connected (even though the motor starts and runs). I need to know the cylinder number sequence for sure, and I need to know the magneto's direction
of rotation. Thanks.

Thanks for all the advice. I did some cross referencing and found all the parts I needed at the local Bumper to Bumper. Next it's on to the steering brakes/clutches? I'll figure it out when I get it adjusted or opened up! Then I'll be able to turn right, Wow!

I, think you can find them from someone who sells STANDARD MOTOR PRODUCTS . POINTS #DR227XP,CONDENSER #DR60X, ROTOR#DR158,CAP#DR405, the STANDARD FARM /INDUSTRAIL CAT.#fis-93 list that dist. in a HERCULES ENGINES IXB, IXB-3 &IXLB-3 . Hope this helps.

All the OC-3's I ever saw had a Wico magneto. I have seen that IXB-3 motor on BF Avery's with the Delco distributor though. Has someone done some retrofitting ? That is a common Delco distributor, you should be able to locate parts for it. It's a matter of finding the right parts man.

Chad,

You do not state what year your little crawler is. When the OC-3 replaced the HG in 1951, it was equipped with a Hercules IXB3 engine. You can probably find ignition parts from Landis Zimmerman at 717-738-2573 Ephrata, PA. If he doesn't have them, I'm sure he will be able to tell you where you can get them. He is "Mr. Cletrac"

Should you not find the correct parts, (and I find that hard to believe that you can not go through all the point sets out there and find them) just convert it over to electronic ignition.
