I have bought my 1st big HP tractor. It is a 1755 AWD diesel. Implements are coming detached while working in the field with it. Seems the claw hitch links are so worn out that they are letting the balls slip out of the claw. Both hitch/claws have been welded in an attempts wo build up the metal, but this is not holiding. I'm asking a long time oliver dealer what to do? He says keep welding. Can I buy new links that are not worn?
the retainer, lock, pin, spring ect.. that clamps down on this claw is very loose and worn too. Can these parts be bought or what?
I am tempted to cut the claws off and weld on a ball type reciever. This ruins its originality but I wouldn;t have to worry about damaging expensive equipment that becomes unhitched. Is this wise?
need advice from you oliver fans.
Thanks, Jef

All those parts can be replaced, but if the whole arm is worn it can still be a little sloppy.I find welding a bead down the rear edge of the piece that holds the jaw,to be the best at stopping the opening. One tractor i have got so bad i replaced the arms with ones that had no jaws.I have the only pair i have ever seen.

I have often thought about welding a bead on the end of the jaw opening, so that it cannot open at all. I guess as long as the balls do not wear out it would be Ok, and I guess you can always grind or chisel the jaws back apart. My 2150 has now gotten to the point that the balls will not stay in the jaw at times. I am thinking of welding them shut and see what happens.
