Hi Everyone: I just bought a 1974 Cockshutt 1555. It came with a snow blade and cab. Looks like new, but of course it has been repainted. Everything seems to work great. Odometer shows about 3600 hours. I'm wondering if there are any particular weaknesses I should be looking for in the future?? I'll be using it mainly with a Bush Hog as well as plowing myself out in the winter and to haul a few logs oiut of the bush. It has no loader, so I'm also wondering which loader fits it? Anyt and all opinions would be appreciated! Ingmar R.

It's really not hard to shift once you get used to it. When shifting the main transmission, pull out the Hydra-Power (2-speed auxilary) nob to the low side if so equipped, that will help. Good luck!!

There are no real weak spots. It does have the old style transmission which shifts a little harder than the larger models. One important factor is this engine has a partial flow oil filter. It has a small hole to restrict the flow of oil through it,the rest goes to the engine. If the wrong filter without the restricter is installed the oil preasure will be too low.If the oil gets dirty or thick no oil will flow through the hole. This tractor has a 2000 pound hydrolic system and dozens of loaders will fit.

Thanks for the reply! I was wondering if the hard shifting was normal and was a bit worried! I was out today on it and chopped down some serious brush! Not as hard on gas as I had expected either. Ingmar
