Oliver standard wheels

I have a 1949 oliver 88 standard. This tractor has 26" wheels and would like to replace them with 38" wheels. the tractor has no hub's the cast iorn wheels go directly on the rear axel.
does anyone have any suggestions on what needs to be done.

Sounds like somone screwing up a nice standard tread tractor for the sake of tractor pulling.

I assure you that that my 88 standard is far from screwed up and is probably a nicer restoration that you have seen our done,not all tractor pullers destroy there tractors for "the sake of tractor pulling" What do you think tractors were built for anyway.If you put enough thought care and ambition in a project or idea it can be done without sacrificing the tractors originality. I am surprised it took this long to get a response. Let me say that I am not against pulling--I do a little myself. I have a row crop 77 and the only thing not original is the drawbar. The only reason I built it was because with the original all I did was stare at the sky. I pull against mostly stock tractors--not "hotrods". And yes it is competitive. I am not questioning anyone's restoration. A lot of these tractors are nicer than what I am capable of doing because they are more talented or want to spend more money to pay professionals to do the work. I wish my paint jobs looked like some of these. There are several very nice tractors but are still "screwed up" in my opinion. Tall tires on standards, weight racks everywhere, aluminum wheels and other parts, custom side panels, roll bars, relocated fuel tanks, ridiculous engine displacements, etc. have ruined a lot of tractors. It has also ruined pulling for a lot of people who just want to do something with their tractors and have a little fun without spending a lot of money. I saw 2 88 pullers for sale on this website. I think one was $10000 and the other was $16000. Come on--the average working guy with a mortgage and a family doesn't have that kind of money to spend on a toy. I am not a purist who thinks every nut and bolt has to be original but I just like to see these old machines reasonably close to what they looked like when new. In my opinion.

How about 30 inch rear tires with 18 inch fronts? They were factory option in later 88 standards and were what 88 needed instead of 26 inch tires !

Willie: I would have to agree with what Lee is telling you,I have 34/38" rear rubber on my 88 but did not change the axles I made hubs for it.I can tell you that If you don't mind the RC axles in it do it that way.If you want the details on how mine are done E mail me I will get back to you as soon as I can,It might take a couple days.

You can use 88 row crop axles and housing's,and hubs.
