Used 1855 for spring work and hydraulics worked
ok. Parked it, then went to move it last week
and had no brakes,or power steering and no press at the remote cylinder. Any sggestion before I start tearing everything apart on what to look
for?

more info; on another one of our tractors, we had the coupler between the hydraulic pump and the power shaft to the pump rust out. The pump didn't make any noise but we knew the long pto shaft did turn. (we pulled the plug out of the upper pto unit and install a 1/2 bolt into the shaft and started the tractor to check this. be careful though). If the pump doesn't turn it has to be one of these two shafts that is giving you the problem.

First question is, is there oil in the system. One of our 1855's had a small return pipe come loose in the upper hydraulic unit and puncture a hole in the pan between the hydraulic unit and the rear end. Nothing worked and we could not hold oil in the unit. If there is oil, I would check the hydraulic filter. A serverly plugged filter could force the pump to get air from a number of sources. Hope this helps.

The hydraulic pump sesms to have lost its' prime.

Bleed the system to remove the air. You can usually do this at the pump by loosening one of the pressure hoses as the pump runs.

The biggest problem you have is determining where and why the pump lost prime.

If your 1855 lost it oil: first look under the tractor where it was parked for oil spots.
Second check transmission fluid level. If your
Oliver is leaking internally it will end up in the gear lube in the transmission. Hydrualic oil in the transmission means one or more of these three things: One of the brake piston O-rings failed
PTO seals and or O-rings failed
Hydraulic pump seal failed (rare occurance)
Check these in this order. Financial reasons.
Air is bled from a petcock on the filter housing.
Good Luck
