Low oil pressure problem with Oliver 88

I have a 1953 Oliver Row Crop 88. The tractor sat for over twenty years before it came to me. After a little work, I got the machine running. One problem, the oil guage only showed 5-15 PSI at idle and at running speeds. I replaced the guage and have blown out the lines and still remain with the low oil pressure. There is a crack in the engine block although it runs a long a water jacket so i don't think it is what is causing the pressure problem. Any ideas?****Richard

5 to 15 lbs is normal. Bearing clearances have nothing to do with oil pressure in this engine. This engine has a galley along the inside with small holes that squirt oil onto the rods and mains. That way, no matter how loose the crankshaft bearings are, oil pressure remains constant.

5-15 pounds of oil preasure is normal for that tractor. The fleet line Olivers do have low oil preasure. In the manual , they will mention them very same numbers when talking about the oil preasure range(5-15). And like Dean says , bad seals/bearings , weak spring in the oil bypass chanel , scored oil bypass cup , etc..

The most obvious cause is excessive bearing clearances. A worn pump is another.
