Me and a friend are making a pulling tractor out of an oliver 66 and are needing the tin cover that goes around the shifter that takes the place of the hydraulic components. Also need the pedestal that the shifter sits on. The part number on the cover that I need is L681. A tractor that came from the factory without hydraulics should have what we need. Any info. is appreciated. Also are there any covers that go over the pto when it is taken out?

There are a number of ways to go here. We took a "quickie saw and cut the top off of the base of the hyd. unit, then welded a sheet of thin plate back on top of it.Only left 2 inches. This worked well and we used the same shifter. When the pto is removed, you are left w/ a small hole and 3 bolt holes. Make a small triangular piece of plate with those 3 holes , a home made gasket, and you have the rear plate. They sold both of these items at one time but you can spend more time and $ looking then it's worth unless you're just lucky. Some old Oliver combines had the tranny cover that would fit but they are about history.
