Oliver 77RC w/ Tasmanian Devil in clutch

We swapped in a motor from a 770 gas into my 77. The 770 had the same problem w/ clutches. When I release the clutch pedal I sometimes hear a howling/grinding noise but the tractor does not move. Is there a problem w/ the shaft coming from the engine to the clutch. Maybe a loose bearing on the back of the engine causing excessive vibration on the throw out bearing/shaft assembly? Prior to swap clutch was fine. Peplexed in NY

My Oliver 770 has the same problem. It growls when I step on the clutch. I haven't gone into it yet to look at it, but was wondering if you found the reason for your problem.

Sounds like the shaft is slideing togather or back too much, Check the small bolt that holds the rear of shaft to the trans.It should have a small part that sticks in.You may need to add another one on the other side.
