I've rebuilt the starter, added a new battery, coil, points, condensor, cap, rotor, plug wires, plugs, and replaced the wiring. I've flushed the fuel system, filled the gas, and lubed it up. I still don't appear to have spark. All components are six volt, including the battery! I've done pretty much everything I know for starting a long quiet engine and it just turns over like a car without a coil wire...changed that too. (it only sat for three years...I hear all these stories about splashing some gas in a tractor that sat in a field for three decades and it starts....not mine.) Looking for some wise experienced help! Thanks.

Do you know where I can locate a Coop No. 2 in running condition? We had 2 Farmers Union Coops No. 2 on the farm in Crookston, Minnesota. I now live near Sacramento, California in the country. Will be looking for one when I fly back to Minnesota August 30 and attend a Threshing Fair in Northern part of Minnesota, which will be featuring the Coop tractor. Hope to find one and have it trucked to my home in Loomis, CA. Thank You, Dale The Tractor Guy (916)652-7170

Tom, When you replace the points, they must be ungrounded. Turn on the ignition, take a test light the low tension wire to the distributor should have juice, then check the points, as you crank you should see sparks between the gap. If you have crocus cloth use a strip to clean between the points, once you have a nice strong spark at the points, replace the rotor, put cap on, then pull a wire and use a spare plug grounded to the tractor as you crank. You should see a spark at the gap. That is the way I would check the ignition. Good Luck

Thanks Kent. What a fool I am...the spring on the points was touching the plate....grounding it. Repositioned it to the proper place, and BUDA was running like a top. First time I've had it running..... .talk about smooooo th!

did you replace any of the gaskets or seals? if you did, where did you find them? am restoring a co-op e3 & need these parts before i can proceed

I haven't done that yet, as the tractor is in working condition. We're going to go that step this winter. I would recommend going to NAPA for parts, as they have most items. It is a Buda 153 engine, but tell them it's a Cockshutt model 30, or they might not find it in their catalog.
