Neighbor wants me to help him put a wide front end on a 1600 that currently has a narrow front on it. Will the front ends off of the 50 and 55 series fit the 1600. I Was looking at a standard adjustable wide front on an 1850 or an under slung utility front axle off of a 1750 to go on this tractor. The adjustable wide front on the 1600's I have seen look a little different where they hook to the frame than the ones on my 1850 and 1855. Anyone know if they will fit on the 1600????

The bolt holes in the frame are all the same in the models you mention. If the 1600 has hydrostatic power steering then most everything will fit fine. The first 1600's had front axels like the super series but the bolt holes are still the same.

The one problem i have had is that larger tractors have the wheels farther out. When you put that axel on a 1550 that you want to mow with, you can't get the axel tubes to break loose and slide in to narrow the wheels.

I have heard that is a problem trying to get the front axels to adjust. I have an 1855 that I would like the front axle to be wider, but have never really tried to move it. So if I end up getting an axle that is set out wide I will just put it on my 1855 and put the 1855 axle on the 1600.

Thanks for all your help Larry.
