I just got my 77 running for the first time in 15 years and It idles fine but as soon as you bring it above an idle the governor kicks in and throws it wide open. Is there any way to service a govener or adjust it? Or would I have to buy a new one? If anywone has any info on 77 governors It would be great. P.S have a fax #

Ben , replace the tin cased flyball bearing inside the governor houseing. I had to do this every now and then with an Oliver "70" years ago. I know the "77" has the same style bearing in it.

i have had alot of olivers and still do.if you had the govorner apart you might have lost apart in there, you also need to make sure it is adjusted right. get a manual and it will tell you how to adjust it exactly, also this will tell you which holes the two linkage rods need to be in.
i have screwed up on these alot and worked for along time on the totally wrong part when it was just out of adjustment. good luck!
