Any thoughts on 1900 P/S conversion??

I have a 1900 that I just found out is a rice model. It has the same fixed width, Live spindle front end as the wheatland model. It has a steering shaft running beside the motor to the steering box in the front end. Does anybode have an idea on how to convert this to power steering with factory/aftermarket parts?

It would be a major undertaking, You would have to install sterring unit in the dash and steering cylinder under the radiator, plus the hyd lines.The easiest way would be to install a Char- Lyn steering unit off of an older tractor.

I rebuilt a power steering unit on an 1800 oliver. I don't believe there is much difference if any on a 1900. First find out if a 1800-1900 are the same. If so it is possible to put a gemmer power steering unit on which is original equipment on an oliver 1800. Two line need to be run from in front of the operators seat and maybe some steering rod adjustment. If this is not a possibility search the web for salvage yards for a 1900 power steering system. Make sure there is no difference in front axle steering components such as the shaft in front of the radiator that the unit sits on or otherwise many more parts will have to be changed. good luck
