Oliver 500 info needed

Can someone give me the point gap for an Oliver 500 A friend is bringing it over today it has sat outside for 10 years or more not started. Would like to try and get it going.

Rod,

According to my Oliver reference books, the Oliver 500 is a David Brown 850 in disguise. Try .020" for starters; if that's too wide, try .016" (I don't have the exact figures on the 500 or the 850; going by experience)

Well have the 500 in my yard here is some info has number VAG20A on it and serial number 100502G it really is very similar to my David Brown 990 in appearance of trans and rear end. Has a David Brown engine on it any info much apprectiated she is stuck and looks like water in all places engine, trans and hydraulics. The young fellow wants to fix it as his granddad bought it new. regards
