Oliver 500 Diesel

This is my first post to this group so excuse my long windedness. I have a 1960 Oliver 500 Diesel, though I believe it was manufactured by David Brown (it has a D/B insignia on the grill). I inherited it from my Grandfather who bought it new the year I was born and actively farmed with it for many years. Therefore it has considerable sentimental value even thouogh I know it is not a real "desirable" tractor. It is in original condition and until recently, has run like a top.

My problem is that it suddenly stopped running while I was pulling some kids on a hayride. I had previously had fuel line problems but plenty of fuel squirts out the bleed valve on the injection pump when the fuel pump is worked manually. Therefore I fear it is a problem with the injector pump itself. I know little about Diesel engines and even less about the injector pump. I am told by my tenant farmer that you really need to know what your doing to work on a Diesel injector system.

My first question is, how can I find out for sure if the injection pump is the problem?

If it is, does anyone out there know of a service business that could rebuild the pump?

If so, would the shop owner (or someone out there) be willing to coach me through the removal and re-installation of the injector pump?

It is the same tractor as a David Brown 500. Brought in by Oliver and painted with the Oliver colors and grill work. It was produced from 1960 to 1963. As far as the diesel work, get ahold of "Diesel Dan" on the "Tractor Talk" page of this website. Just put the word diesel in the title and most likely he will answer. He can most likely help you. I hope it is just a clogged fileter or line. Do you know what make injector pump is on that tractor? Include that in your posting..... ..... ..
