I have a 1650 oliver with a torque reverser,going forward is the problem.I recently listed it for sale ,now am finding there is a site with a lot of information,i would like to keep it !If i could get it fixed reasonable,I have the labor and garage all i need is the knowledge to fix it and a place to buy the parts.Everytime i go to use the tractor i need to idle for long periods of time,or rev up the engine to get it to move forward.It seems it looses prime or the oil is draining back or something.I have plenty of oil,check the fluid levels which are good,changed the filter.That is not the case for reverse direction it moves good warmed up or not.

When I first went to college for ag engineering the first work study project my prof. gave me was to put together one of these units. He gave me a basket full of parts and a I&T manual. With patience, patience, and more plus being very maticulous on the cleaning of parts and assembling things without using a bfh a I&T manual will get you through this.

If you are talking about the reverse o torque it is a farely simple with to clutch packs, a pump, and torque converter. If the reverse seems ok your problem about has to be the forward clutches or seals in the forward clutches leaking. I rebuilt one a couple years ago and the parts were available from AGCO. It was built by funk in Kansas.

Yes ,I do have the complete parts break down catalog 1600-1650,i just didn't want to start something i could not finish,I needed to have a place to order parts.Thank you

These units are very simple. Of course they have a torque converter attached to the flywheel in place of a clutch. Torque converter is similar in design to automotive types. In the gear box, there are two clutches, a forward and reverse. Housing has a couple of gears and a countershaft and thats it. Appearently, the forward clutch is failing or has failed. The unit is illustrated and repair proceedure is outlined in the 1650 shop manual. This unit was built by Funk Machine in Coffeeville, KS. Funk is now owned by John Deere, still in operation building components for Deere and other manufacturers. They were building the powershifts for the Agco tractors, however I do not know if they still do. If you can't find a shop manual, I can scan the one that I have. I believe there were two models used, would need to know the model number.

Yes ,now i understand better why i don't have any froward motion.The previous owner that i bought the tractor from,said after the brakes failed,he use the bucket to stop the tractor.Could this have put extra force on that forward clutch and caused it to fail as you have more of a tendancy of stopping forward than in reverse.I have the parts break down book 1600-1650,but don't have a shop manual showing the repair procedure,a copy would be nice!I will try to look for those serial numbers and post them,Thank you....

If the hydradrive on your 1650 is like the one I have on my 1555, there is a serial number for the hydradrive stamped on the top near the breather cap where you add transmission fluid . The serial number for the tractor is on a name plate underneath the dash in front of the transmission gear shift and near the release you press with your foot to raise the steering wheel up and down .
