Does anyone know the exact difference in the Oliver 1855 diesel and 1955 diesel.

They both have the same engine, Head, Blower, Frame, Trans, etc.

The only diffence I can find is that the 1855 and 1955 had diffrent injection pumps and the 1955 had more brake discs.

Also the 1955 had a engine cooler on the block (and the late 1855's also).

Both had a Waukasha 310 turbo diesel, which were the same.

Are these the only difference's?????

Will putting the larger injection pump on the 1855 make it essentially a 1955 ????

It was my understanding that the injection pumps on the 1855 and 1955 were the same model of Roosa-Master unit. I believe 1955 was simply set to deliver slightly more max. fuel than 1855. Early 1855s, those produced prior to 1974, did not have an oil cooler, a fact which certainly contributed to the greater frequency of failures associated with the 1855 compared to the failures of 1955s. In '74 and later 1855s, a 1955 engine was used set at a lower power level equivalent to the earlier 1855s. Only differences of which I am aware between the two machines.

The 1855 and 1955 did have different pumps,....

My IT Manual gives the different pump numbers,....

I have been reading everything,... so I can find out exactly what the changes are.

But any more info is greatly appreciated.

Yes Cowboy those are really the only differences in the two tractors. In fact many of the early 1855's now have the 1955 310 engine in them. Oliver had a program to swap out the 1855 engine and put in the 1955 at one time. Be aware there are some small differences in the engine and head between the 1855 and 1955 and even in the later 1855 engines. I found that out trying to get a head gasket for my 1855. Oliver made at least 2 different head gaskets for the 310 and I dont think the heads will interchange. Be safe and order parts based on the engine number.

Thanks Shep,....

I am told that the head gaskets were different between the Non-Turbo 1755 and turbo 1855 and 1955.

The reason is that the injection pumps on these tractors are bigger as the tractor got more HP.

The pump on this tractor of mine has a bigger pump than the original 1955 one. So, Debating on buying another pump, or rebuilding this one.

But, if I keep this one, it will be set for 1955 specs and output of fuel. That way we don't over boost the engine and drop the lower end.
