Oliver 77 rear wheels

Can anyone tell me did a 1948 or 1949 Oliver 77 RC gas come equiped with stamped steel wheels from the factory? I have one I'd like to pull in 4500# Farm Stock class. The rules state you can only run stamped steel if that model had them as a factory option.

Todd a 77 did infact come with choice of pressed steel wheels front and rear or cast centers with a bolt on rim.Check the nebraska test data that will tell you for arguements sake. nebraska test states a bare tractor weight of around 3800lbs. Good luck at the pulls olivers are tough to beat when set up properly.My brother and I both pull 88'ss one row crop and one standard in div iv.we take our share of firsts.hope this helps Rich in N.Y.

Oliver 77's and 88's came from the factory with both the cast center and also the tin rims. Most other tractors came from the factory with cast centers. The tractor pulling club that I am in has a similar rule.

Yes Mak , with out looking it up , I do believe your right. I remember seeing both pressed steal and cast iron centers. And I also remember reading that it was an option.

I have a 48 RC 77 with the cast wheels. I pull it in some small local ones but am not in a club. There is a club in this area although I don't think I have seen that rule in it .My Question is ,why? If your in Farm Stock class it is not like your putting alot more load on them than normal plus the classes are by weight so I can't see what difference it would make. Now if your trying to get into the lighter classes I can see it.

Local pulling club (southeastern MN) has such a rule, and it is enforced. The complaints mainly revolved around the Olivers, as they are very strong competitors with pressed steel and can soundly beat the little 2 cylinder putt-putts, which makes those guys a little mad. To that I say... GOOD! Best of luck beating those other green imitation tractors in your pulls. And it is perfectly legal to pull with pressed steel, as others have said, because Oliver offered them that way.
