When I was little in the eary sixties there was an old Cockshutt sitting on my grandfathers farm for a couple of years, it belonged to a deseased uncle of mine. My father remembers it to be a 35 Cockshutt with a diesel engine. Did they make this model # and what type diesel did they use? It was a nice looking tractor. Thanks Jeff P.S.It had a cracked block(no antifeeze) that's why it was sitting.

Yes, the 35 had the gas Hercules 4 cylinder engine. Are you sure the tractor was'nt a 40 with the Perkins diesel 4 cylinder.? They looked very similar.

The 35 came with a Hercules 198 cubic inch 4 cylinder Hercules gas engine. The same engine, in diesel, was available in the later 550 model, and I suppose someone could have made the switch.

Jeff, I don't believe the 35 ever had a diesel
engine from the factory. They came with a 4 cyl.
gas Hercules motor. Some other models used Perkins
and Buda diesels and later models (550,570) used
Hercules diesel engines.
