I need info on how the loaders bolt up on the 550 Oliver? What is avail. I read one of the discussions that some one had hooked there on hydraulics up for a loader. made a block and bolted it on? any one remember. Not much info on 550's in this area. Oliver seems to be more of a Northern tractor? Boyd from Texas

Dad has a 550 with a 59A loader that was factory loader for the 550 . He has the hydrolic bucket option and its run off of the tractor hydrolics there is no problem using tractor system its the lack of power steering !!! He has given up loading with it but I can,t have it yet as at 82 he is not quit done with it yet !!! 59A bolts on front frame and onto back axle .

If interested, there is a loader for sale in the ADs to the left. Do search for Randy Gesch or Hastings, MN.

The answers provided by others certainly clarified some questions I had concerning the various holes on mine. I originally thought the tapped holes on the front were for add on weights.
Keep on learnin'

I have a 550 with a "Henry" loader and backhoe. It has a frame work for the loader that attaches to the rear axel and the front end mounting plate. The hoe is attached to that frame. It is a removable backhoe. All it takes to remove the hoe is two cotter pins, two pins and the two quick disconnect hoses. The pump is mounted on the front and driven by the crankshaft by means of a flex coupling. It has an 18 inch bucket and will dig about 10 feet deep.
Hope this helps.

I put a Freeman loader on my 550, and it's a pretty easy installation. There is a flat pad on the front of the mainframe below the grille, with four tapped holes, so you can make an adapter plate and weld to the front frame of the loader. The back end just bolts to the back axle, either with U-bolts, or with an adapter plate to fit the available mounting pad. The 550 also has a hole through the front mainframe that lines up with the front crankshaft pulley, so you can take off the pulley and drill it for a mounting flange for a shaft to run through the hole and operate a hydraulic pump to power the loader. I think the available hydraulic pump on the tractor is only about 5 GPM, and you really need more than that to adequately operate a loader.
