Oliver Weights

Anyone got any extra flat 150# front oliver weights layin around that they want to get rid of?? I have been running the cloter chisel with my 2150 and am gettin a little light on the front end. Done stole all three of the oliver weights off all the tractors I got and still need some more. Want to keep the tractor origional and not switch to suitcase weights, but havent found any oliver weights yet. Any help????

Tell me how it pulls. I bet it sounds great. I know a Oliver Man down south of me has some running and some beond repair. I think he had some weights on a scrap pile not for sure, will check with him and let you know. Still trying to save up the money to get pump rebuilt and injectors rebuilt on 2050 cant wait.

Oh man, you should hear that big ollie scream pullin that colter chisel. Music to my ears. I was turnin a field Tuesday night till almost 11pm and when I came in dad said he could hear that tractor screaming, and he was almost three miles away up the hollow!!! I bet all the neighbors love me this week :-)

I been havin a blast with that BIG tractor. I got a 9 shenk Sunflower colter chisel that I borrowed from the neighbor and have run over almost 50 acres now. Going in about 14inches in this clay soil really makes her talk.

Hey Dsl, I am getting a good amount of crankcase pressure when I am pulling, and lots of white smoke and some oil coming out of the tube off of the valve covers. Is that normal with these Hurk engines?? I only used one quart of oil in 9hrs of pulling so I dont really think the rings are going, but that crankcase pressure worries me a little. I am going to put a rubber hose on the end of that tube and send the air and mess on under the tractor.

Yep, Shep, it seems to be. My 2150 is a little
tired alright, and really blows by. I want to have
the engine rebuilt and a new clutch put it, but
that gets up there REAL fast, especially when you
have someone do it for you. For now, there is a
rather nasty cloud of blow-by smoke welling up
from under the tractor. Now the 2050 seems to be
as clean as can be. Leads me to think that the
addition of the turbo overwhelms either the rings
or the valves, or both, in an engine with some
hours on it.

Yer 2150 screams, huh? I ferget,
but it must have a straight pipe, because mine is
anything but what you'd call a screamer, just a
mellow mumbler. Nice and quiet(Whispering Diesel),
so no hearing protection necessary. You can
actually hear the soil passing through the disc!
The front end has it's own little 'mawrrr mawrrr'
sound when it's engaged, but it isn't one bit
loud, and is rather pleasing to listen to. Now,
the 2255, on the other hand, with it's lack of a
factory style Y-pipe, which leads to the absence
of a muffler....

Yeah, I am running a streight pipe on mine, so it breaths a little loud. That is OK, I love to hear that big tractor run. She is getting duty in front of a 18 ft Athens disk this week, working down what the chisel left.

I am wondering if when my turbo went bad and let oil into the engine and blew the head gasket if it didnt damage the rings some too. I replaced the head gasket and all new valves and seats, but I didnt pull the pistons out. I wonder if the rings are a little damaged from the oil going in the engine and is allowing some blow by. Hmmmm Well I still have plenty of power and I am not using much oil, I think I am going to run her until something gets worse.

Let me know if anyone finds some weights I can use. Gotta hold this power to the ground :-)

DSL, what kind of exhaust setup you got on that 2255? I cut my Oliver teeth on a 2255 at a local independent shop and that multi-piece exhaust just about ruined me on Olivers from the start. The only good design on that 2255 was there wasn't a chain coupler. If you want to hear loud and get the neighboras up at night, try a 4-150 that the guy did away with the muffler and runs dual staight pipes right out the side!!! What's that you say?,Can't hear ya! WB.

Well, WB, I was wrong, sorry. I had to go out and
check it, but the Y-pipe is intact, it's just the
upright pipe from there that's messed up. The
previous owner to the dealer I bought it from just
put in a pece of flex pipe from the 4 bolt flange
at the Y-pipe on ahead out the hood. That piece is
NLA, and I haven't been able to find a used one,
and the truck centers here can't custom bend that
size of pipe so I'm SOL.


BTW, have you ever seen a 55 series cab with only
one door? The 2255's cab is an absolute wreck, and
a White dealer near the NY border has a nice 55
series cab with attached tanks, but it only has a
left side door. $200 Canadian, which is real fair,
considering the glass is all intact, the paint and
even the 'WHITE' decal on the back is nice yet. I
oughta buy the darn thing, I guess.
