I have an 1850 and Im getting oil in my brake. It looks as if there is a seal in there. If it is how hard is it to change?Thanks in advance for any help.

I don't know if the 1850 is like the 1650, but if it is then there are 2 teflon seal rings on the bull pinion on the left side if the tractor.
These supply oil to the differential, and if those wear out it will allow oil to pressure up against the seal and will leak into the brake housing. Mine was dry on the right side but pretty nasty on the left side. On the 1650 the brake housings are interchangable in case the i.d. is torn up or grooved.

Its easey to change. Punch a hole in metal part of seal. Drill a small hole in punch, continue drilling throuh back of seal. Screw a 1 1/4 in self taping screw through front and back of seal. Using a nail puller pry the screw out and the seal will come with it. I found a short piece of 3" abs drainage pipe available at most hardware stores is the perfest size for driving the new seal on evenly without damaging the seal. I also wrapped the bull pinion with a piece of vellum, a type of stiff thin plastic to guide the rubber part of the seal over the splines. A CR28686 seal should fit. Also be carefull not to nick the shaft. Hope this helps you Larry. Dave in Armstrong.
