Would like to know the cubic inch and hp of the cockshutt 30,40,50 and how they compare to the olivers. Thanks in advance!

Ralph, here's the cubic inch for each model:

30---153 cu. in.--- 2-3 plow

40---230 cu. in.--- 3-4 plow

50---273 cu. in.--- 4-5 plow

As Canada Grant said these are all Buda engines.

Cockshutt tractors were numbered according to there horsepower . Cockshutt 30: 30 hp Buda engine 3 and 7/16 by 4 and 1/8 4 cylinder Cockshutt 40 : 40 Hp same bore and stroke only 6 cylinder Cockshutt 50 : 50 Hp and 3 and 3/4 bore by 4 and 1/8 stroke. In this area there were more cockshutts than olivers due to good dealers most cockshutts were sold with 38 inch tire and olivers were standards rather than rowcrops so they were using the 26 inch tires.Because of the smaller tire some didn,t like the olivers in wet conditions however both had the live power takeoff. Right after the war the canadian built cockshutt was easier to get here rather than importing the oliver .
