Total 50 production from 1953-58 was 3974. The
listing I have does not give a breakdown gas vs.
diesel. I believe the only diesel ever used in the 50 was the Buda 6DA273. The Perkins I think
was only used in the 40PD and later in some 560s.
As I understand, the Buda diesel in the 50 had a
problem with the head cracking.

I know they made a 50 diesel and also there was a 50 diesel called the Blackhawk I believe. It had a Perkins diesel in it instead of the normal which I believe may have been a Buda diesel. I looked at one with a Perkins in it a while back that was in pretty good shape with a wide front and hydraulics but no 3-point and the guy wanted 2500, I don't know for sure how good of a deal that was, from what I found no one seems to know how many were made with the perkins but it wasn't that many. I didn't have the money to buy it at the time.

I have a Cockshutt 50 with a Perkins diesel. It appears to be original and the serial number has a "P" stamped at the end of it. I did a post a number of months ago to find out how rare it was, but didn't get much response.

I'll have to dive for my Cockshutt books tonight- I was under the impression that only the 40 (not the 50) had some Perkins diesels- and the model was designated 40pd, for "perkins diesel". I'll let you know what I turn up.
