1750 Front Axle

I looked at a 1750 the other day and the front axle had the tie rods in front of the axle. Is this the regular setup, or was the axle reversed. Would this be done to get a shorter wheelbase, or some other reason?
Another question. The tractor had a cab and on the right hand side towards the rear near the roof there was the word "Oliver" and some other script in Oliver colors that looked original. Did Oliver have a cab available for the 1750, or would it be an aftermarket thing? Thanks.

Is this the front end you are referring to??? This was more of a utility front axle, worked good with loaders. And yes oliver had several factory cabs for the 1750, a continental and a narrow row cab and also had several after market cabs from the factory including a Hiniker (SP) and a QT-1 cab.

I have one like that too.I allso have a 1650 with the short wheel base on a rowcrop tractor.The utility has 28 inch rubber on the rear and the hinge open battery boxes,plus the fenders are mounted a little shorter. On the rowcrop everything is the same as the outfront axel 38 inch rubber ,standard battery boxes,leval with hood fenders and the short wheel base too.The utility is geared higher.

Oliver had a short wheel base front axel for all the 50and 55 series. It had the tie rods in front. In the old tractors 1800 ,1600 the short axel turned shorter.When the newer hydrostatic steering axel came out it turned shorter (with brakes)so there was no need for the short one.Oliver kept selling it anyway.They ride rougher and seem to get loose quicker.They allso steal wieght from the rear and don't pull as well.They are great to use in the woods pulling logs.
