Oliver 1855 engine problem

Another Oliver 310 problem . A friend of mine has recently obtained an Oliver 1855 with a totally shot 310 engine . I have not seen it but I understand the former owner had it partially rebuilt (with apparently questionable parts) and the engine totally failed resulting in some internal part (rod etc ) going through and significantlydamaging the block . He is thinking about replacing 310 with Cummins or used Perkins similar to recent post on 1755 with engine problems. I do not think he wants to try to repair the old 310 block . Any suggestions on what companies or persons would be a good or possible source for a new or used Cummins , used Perkins or possibly a used 310 block . Any help would be appreciated .

I get lots of my engines and engine parts out of PA. There is lots of aftermarket engine dealers up that way. If you are on the east cost, or near PA let me know and I can hook you up with a few...
