Below ShepFL posted a message about Mall of America buying an Oliver to make into a childrens' display with the intention of painting it red. This kinda of irks me. So I wrote a nice letter to inform them of their impending error. Not to criticize mind you, just to educate. I offered to send them paint codes. Now, if they get just one letter, they may assess me as the nut case I am, but that's beside the point. If they get several, they may see this as a potential faux pas, you know error in judgement. Good point, Paul. I sent an e-mail to the Mall of America, explaining the proper color choice. There is strength in numbers, and if enough of us express our interest, there could well be a green Oliver there. Of course, the IH buffs might be flattered having their color honored by being on an Oliver!

Paul,
I also sent an email to MOA telling them how beautiful the tractor was and could be again, in it's original colors.
I will say this however. Kids are naturally drawn to red for some reason. Since the MOA is only after the money, then the kids will no doubt want to sit in the seat. Parents will want to pay for the picture of their smiling kid in the seat of a red tractor. Makes one wonder how the kids and the MOA would react to a green tractor.

sigh....money talks..too loud at times, I fear.

If I thought it would make a diference, I know where an 8N Ford is setting to to rot and ruin. I would paint it red and trade them out of the Oliver.

Outstanding work!!!!
Using your link I posted a lengthy email extolling the virtues of the correct color scheme. I went on to illustrate how they could market it as "Bridging the Generations". Using the correct color scheme and "bridging" by allowing the older folks to relive some fond memories and perhaps get a photo op while at the same time providing some agriculture heritage education to the younger generation. Who knows - maybe this could bloom into a full blown "Oliver Memorial - Finest in Farm Machinery?"

Oliver is the only tractor that you can paint
any color and it well steel look like a tractor.
