Oliver 66/77 Advice

I am in the market for an Oliver 66 or 77 and was wondering what to watch out for when looking at one of these. Also what is a the going price for a complete unrestored machine. Your advice is appreciated

Hi Mike! These old Olivers did not have any weak spots that I'm aware of. Have rebuilt one 77 and two 88's with a basket case 66 waiting in the wings. Engine parts, clutches and such readily available from independent jobbers. First piece of advice, (1) STAY AWAY FROM AGCO for parts unless you enjoy being gouged. These tractors are a joy to work on. Rear end bearings are tapered roller, just move shims to tighten every thing up, if needed. Second piece of advice, (2) STAY AWAY FROM AGCO for parts. As far as prices, that's a tough question, but somewhere between $750 to a $1,500 should catch most and remember, STAY AWAY FROM AGCO for parts.

Vern,

Thanks for the info! I found a 1952 77 Row Crop that the owner is asking $2,000.00 for. Sounds like it runs good and has all the original sheet metal in excellent shape. Rear tires are 50% and the fronts need replaced. I will go look at it on Sat.

Hi Mike! Glad to hear all the sheet metal is intact and good shape. That adds quite a lot to the value. I have to admit that I have a real love for the Fleetline series, I personally feel they were the best series ever offered in any make. There just isn't that much to go wrong with these old tractors, they just keep going. If you ever need any suggestions, just e-mail me, I'll do the best I can to help.
