Hello, I need some help. I'm going to an auction on friday and there is a 1950T 6cyl. at this sale.I have looked at the tractor and the general appearance is good,but there is some fuel on the inside of the stack and on the hood around the stack, should this be a concern? I hope to hear it run on thursday, check out day before the sale.Anything I should be looking for ? Any help would be greatly appreciated. Hour meter shows 3096. Thank You Larry

The 1950T I understand had it's problems, but I have been farming 160 acres for the last 10 years with one and have had only minor problems. I think the secret to keeping one together is not to overload it and keep the rpm down to pto speed. The turbo increases the horsepower way beyond what the 310 engine should produce. I would buy another one at the righ price.

WE had one it was a real good pulling tractor it had real good power we pulled 6 16 bottom plow in black dirt,the weak point was the head gasket we had to put a couple on we plowed a 1000 acres each fall with it the brakes wernt much either

The "T" in 1950-T stands for turbocharged. This was a 310 Waukesha engine. If I'm not mistaken the 1950's with a GM diesel did not have the "T" designation. Good tractor to stay away from. I had a neighbor that had one with 3000 hours on it. The tractor spun a bearing. The crank wasn't grindable, he put in a new crank. He had a lot of money in the tractor by the time he was done. He could have put a new engine in for about the same money.

This model had a number of engine problems.The turbo puts more strain on the engine,and contributes to blowing head gaskets. I put 4 head gskets on and was glad to get ridd of mine. Low oil preasure was ollso a big problem ,new style bearings helped but so much oil went through the turbo that the oil preasure would dissapeer.If you want a tractor to use buy something else.

The 1950-T had the 310 Waukashau didn't it??? Or did that one have the GM Detroit??? I am not sure of what engine that one had.. If it is anything like the 310 that is in the 1855 and 1955 it is not worth much if you are going to "use" the tractor. And if it is already blowing oil, better be prepared to overhaul it or put a new engine in. I always thought the Detroits were good engines, never owned one, but have seen a lot of them run.
