What would be a fair price for a 1955 Oliver Super 55 with an original loader on it. It appears all original and in good shape. Sheet metal is straight, has two lights forward, and one to the rear. It starts and runs and the pto/3pt works fine. The paint is OK (it was is a homemade paint job - but no rust) The owner runs it with the choke out, which makes me wonder what necessitates that.. Guages are not working quite right but are there - Otherwise in good shape, all mechanical seems OK and the loader seems strong - no leaks. It comes with the manuals etc. Thanks in advnce

A super 55 Oliver in our area will bring at least $2500 in good shape. I have seen restored ones bring $4000 or more. This is without a loader. In response to your comment about the tractor having to run with the choke out. I have had this problem several times in many different tractors. The problem is that you are not getting enough fuel. Start by disconnecting the fuel line at the carb. to see if you are getting full flow of fuel.
If not, you have dirt in the fuel line, fuel tank or sediment bowl. If you do have full flow to the carb. then the problem is dirt in the carb. itself.

Thanks for the info - I went ahead and bought it tonight - I will check out the carb issue in the morning. I have an 8n also, but the more I look at this Oliver the more I think I like it better! Thanks again, MrJasonl

Remember when you check out the carb. it only takes one grain of sand to plug a jet. You can use a torch head cleaning kit and pick a real fine gauge wire to clean out the jets. Don't use one to big or you'll ruin the jet.
