88 motor in a 77

Will an Oliver 88 motor bolt into a 77? I know that the 88 motor is slightly longer, but will the motor mounts and bell housing match up?

Several years ago my Dad and Grandad blew up the diesel motor in a 770 (same dimensions as a 77) and replaced it with a 1600 gas engine. The 1600 engine would have the same dimensions as the 88 engine. I remember Dad saying something about having to cut and modify the fan shroud and radiator housing to accomadate the extra length. I don't know about any drive shaft components. I wasn't there so I can't help much more.

I haven't done it myself but was told yes it will bolt up. Apparently you will need to modify the length of the shaft between the bellhousing and the transmission input shaft. You will also need to move the radiator ahead slightly . You may need to use the 77 fan as I think the 88's might be bigger in diameter. The PTO shaft might need to be shortened as well. Maybe someone that has more knowledge will help out.

I seem to remember a 77 at the winter show that had a 310 12 port gas engine in it. It looked like it could have come from the factory except for the plumbing necessary to get the exhaust out of the factory location in the hood. Of course it was hidden under the side panels.
