I purchased a Dunham QA Loader for my Oliver 1600, the loader has it's own valves,I could hook the hydro hoses up to the back externals and tie the hydro lever in position, but I would prefer to have direct or all time power. Is there a way to do this and how.

Yes this can be done with what Oliver called power beyond. By doing this it will also work much better. Contact a dealer in your area and ask if he has a book which shows where to hook into the system. It's easy to do but you need to know which plugs to take out and you put a 3/8 plug inside of one. They are on theleft side of the hyd.unit near the top.

I have a 1650, and I'm running off the existing remotes, however I'm about to change over also. My book shows the two ports on the left side (wrong side for ease) and states the part about installing the pipe plug. It's calling for an Open Center valve though.

Your stating Power Beyond. When I buy my valve, they can set it up for Open or Closed center, or install a power beyond sleeve. Which one do I really need, the open center or the power beyond?

You're talking about two different things. Get the valve set up for open center. The "power beyond sleeve" you're talking about sounds like an option on the new valve, which allows other hydraulic stuff to be attached in series with the loader. You'll use the "power beyond" port on the tractor hydraulics, running it through an open center valve. The reason for using an auxilliary valve rather than the remotes is to free up the remotes, but more importantly, because you can't "feather" the remotes- so its difficult (and dangerous) to use the loader for precision work, like pulling and installing engines from other rigs, etc.

Why switch from your levers to seperate unit? I asked about this a bit back, I want to put a loader on and run it off my levers, is this not a good idea?

It works okay the way it is, however I would like to free up my remotes for other implements. Also, there is no float available on the existing remotes, and they are a little annoying to use (my handles are rusted up) and they ssit very close together. I'm installing a Joy Stick control maybe next week.

Thanks for all the answers, I will contact my local dealer and get the info on Power Beyond. As to some of the replies I too like the idea of keeping my remotes free and I believe the constant pressure on the external levers will not help the hydro pump since it is not built for that application.
