Help identify Oliver, maybe 550?

My late father had an unkown, possibly repainted, Oliver or possibly Oliver White, seems to be a 550, and he thought it was "Utility" not farm. There does not seem to be a nameplate. It has a White front bucket hoist, says mod 588, ser 15647, I believe, ON THE HOIST. Also there is a decal on the hoist, 2/44/LL. The engine is 4 cyl, gas, overhead valve, Delco dist. It has a Delco alternator which may be a conversion--there is some spacers in the bracket.

We use(d) it for plowing my Mom's drive, it has probably a broken piston, and I'm gonna have to try and fix it this spring. I need to ID it and find a good source for engine parts, as well as find manual, torque specs, etc.

Any ideas would be appreciated.

It looks like it could have a newer loader on it.It may be a 550, late model ones had a differant grill. I would suggest you look at the tractor photos in the left side of this page. allso look for casting number on the engine it should have a M in it like 1M000 ,or M1000. I did see an industrial white loader that had a 550 as a base,it only had white decals on it.

The casting numbers are just above the starter.
