Odd Oliver, 77 or Super 77

My dad has an oliver 77. It was my grandpa's and he bought it new in 1954. The next year he took it in and had a diesel engine put in it. This tractor is soon to be mine and my dad has always said it was a Super 77. Here is the weird part. I had my dad look at the serial #. It starts with 350 (which tells me it is a 1953 model 77 row crop). But after the serial # is S77D. It also has electric hydralic controls, and I think it has ROW CROP forged in the rear axle. Is this a 1953 77 row crop with a super 77 engine? Were the electric hydralic controls available on a 1953 77? To add another twist to the tractors history, I guess my grandma was really mad that he went and spent more money for the diesel engine, my dad said that maybe he actually got a whole new tractor and did'nt tell her!!

I think you have a Super 77. I also think it came with a factory diesel engine. The second part of your sn is S for super, 77 for the model, and D for Diesel.

I have two gas Fleetline 77s, and both have the D at the end of the S/N: 328487-C77D and 346675-C77D. Are they oddballs?

The C77D is a referance to the transmission and rear. There is an explantion in the old oliver books.It takes several pages to tell it all.This is one of the more common rears.

What is the complete serial # and there should be a spec # on the tag, what does it read. This should tell the story.
