Years ago we used to have a 1750 that we finally sold because we had some awful engine problems with it. I don't remember the particulars of the problem because I was just a kid when we had it. Has anyone else had similar problems with this model? I'm guessing that the engine was the infamous bad Waukesha.

I have a friend that bleeds Oliver green and he had a 1750 that ate crankshaft after crankshaft. He finally gave up and put an 1800 gas engine in it and he is lots happier now.

I think you are going to get good and bad models of every tractor. Personally I've had good luck with the two 1750s we've had. As far as the Waukesha and crank problems, the 1750 we have right now has a turned crank that is .020 on the rod and mains both. I think the reputation of a tractor is that you hear more often about the problems they have than how good they are. WB.

I had a 1550 for years, and it was a great tractor- My neighbor thought so too, after borrowing it several times, so he bought a 1750. He certainly gave it every consideration, so far as patience was concerned- but had problems time after time with crankshaft and/or heads. He finally gave it away- and the guy tried to make him take it back!

Drop a four - or-six-cylinder Perkins or B-series Cummins (with or without turbo) into that 1750 and he'd have a great tractor.
