Well, I went over yesterday evening to take another look at my new purchase. I just bought a 2150 MFWD with a busted engine about two towns over. Tractor really looks to be in good shape and will run, but has a dead cylendar and is blowing oil out of the manifold and exhaust. Looks like an overhaul this summer, or maybe even a new engine. Man that tractor is a beast -- I hope I can get it on my 24ft gooseneck trailer. Anyone got any ideas on what this thing will tip the scales at??? Guess my tractor fund is shot for a while -- Isnt it fun?? :-)

Shep, don't even bother trying to haul a 2150 FWA with a tandem single and a dually. A tandem single is only gonna be a 14000 GVWR, which is at least 1000lbs under the weight of the tractor, and then there's the trailer's own weight on top of that. Yer gonna break something, blow something, or git yerself one heckova an overweight fine if yer caught. That 2150 is going to be a MINIMUM 15000lbs if it has empty tires and no weights. My 2150 FWA with 3PTH and fender tanks on bone dry 23.1x34 rears and 14.9x26 fronts with no weights is 16000lbs, and my 2050 Western FWA with cab and fender tanks is well over 18000(possibly nearly 20000) with it's fully loaded 23.1x34 rears, loaded 16.9x26 fronts, big rear wheel weights, and four front end weights. It's a semi job for sure to move it, and the 2150 shouldn't be tackled without at least a 21000 trailer and a single axle tractor.

Thanks Dsl, That is what I needed, someone who has moved a tractor like that before. My neighbor is a truck driver and has a flat trailer and a tandum simi. Maybe I can talk him into moving it for me. Thanks again.

I think I might just bundle up real well and drive that sucker home- You're looking at 18,000 plus, including weight of trailer, and I see bad things happening. . .

That thought has crossed my mind. I just dont know if the engine in the tractor will hold up that long. It has a dead miss on one cylendar and oil/fuel coming out the exhaust bad, and I dont know how close to coming apart it is. I may just have to hire someone with a tractor trailer and a lowboy to bring it to me. I would hate to tear my truck and trailer up. Thanks.

I do not have a weight for that tractor but I do know if your trailer does not have tandom duals you will probly overload your tires weight capacity.

Has Tandums, no duels. They are 8 ply and almost new. I dont have to haul it but about 15 miles so I might get the tractor up on there and see what it looks like. I would just drive it up on the back of my pickup and haul it home -- but I dont want to be a showoff :-)

Not even -- I have a '91 F-350 Extnended cab Ford. Before the powerstroke but I put a little Banks Turbocharger on the 7.3 Diesel. I run right past the Dodges here on the blue ridge mountains.:-)

The 7.3's were good and I have heard reports of aftermarket turbo-ed 7.3 IDI'd doing real well in the power department. But the Cummins is lower revving and was designed as a tractor engine. In fact, Ford used the Cummins B in their medium duty trucks bigger than pickups. freightliner uses it also, in applications up to 65,000 GCW. So, I would not be afraid to pull anything I'd want to with a cummins. I hate to admit it but it is too much engine for the Dodge pickup. They have to water it down for the auto trans as the Cummins would tear it up if full power.

Well, I can't say for sure, but the 1955 4WD that we just bought, and is being delivered today, probably weighs in at around 16-18,000 lbs. As long as you don't have to go up any hills, like we have to here in the Catskills, you should be OK.

8 tires @2000 each is 16000 gross weight the trailer probally weighs 5000 so you have a payload of 11000 the tractor will weigh at least that but if you take it easy youll probally ok. i have a friend with a dual tandems and he hauls a jd 4455 with loader
