Does anyone know how many super 88 diesels were built with the air breather still under the hood (like the old 88s)and also that had the old style dual oil filters.We have a number of super 88s and all of them have the breather above the hood and have the single oil filter.
But i happen to get another one and this one is set up just like the old 88s.Also noticed that the toy i bought to match is the same way also.

Don't think above hood air inlet appeared until 880 series. I think any above hood air inlets on supers was farmer added.

Highboyford & all : The parts book shows that the dual element oil filters for the diesel 88 & super tractors was used through S/N 49 249 which would be a super. The shop manual on page 2-96 states:, "beginning in 1957 the diesel filter base was standardized to a single element, straight base for HC, LPG, & Diesel tractors, except 550 and super 55 which used the angular base." I can not find anything on the air cleaner inlet, only shows the over radiator inlet. My parts book is dated Sept. of 57, I don't know if there is a later edition.
