Tryed tractor talk, still need help.rebuilt my 30 and am having trouble getting smooth performace through the entire throttle range. It starts very well, even though it's very cold here.idles well but a couple notches on the throttle and the engine races. If i hold back on the linkage between the throttle butterfly and the gov.i can make it slow down but have no more adjustment in that direction. The jet adj.on the carb has no effect.Seems like there should be a return spring on the butterfly but of 2 carbs i have neither have one.Any advice? thanks, al

I had a few problems on my 30 with what I thought was stumbly and delayed throttle response. I tried a number of different governor springs (the one that has the metal stub inside as a spacer) and finally found one that was a bit weaker than what might have been the original and things smoothed out quite a bit. This is a bit different than your problem but you might try it. I just did it by trial and error, sometimes making up a spring from a long length of what I had laying around.
