What does it cost to rebuild a 1755 diesel? I have a chance to buy one for $2,500. It currently has a low end knock in the engine. I Figure it has a bad berring and will need the crank ground and new berrings at the very least, most likly a compleat rebuild. The rest is in good shape.

Also what is a 1650 direct injection diesel worth with a high speed trans? thanks

By a 1650 with a high speed trans, I assume you mean it has a 3 speed over/under Hydraul shift. This would mean its a late model 1650, probably a 1968 or 1969, just before they went to the 1655's. Should be worth at least $4,000 to $5,000, if its in good shape. They go for a lot less at auctions if their in "as is" condition.

Just did an 1855 about a year ago, did pistons rings, all bearings, oil pump, and had the head redone for about $2000. I did not touch the crank, just did an in frame overhaul, and did not remove the engine from the tractor. Depending on what you have to do to the crank, you should be able to do an overhaul for about that. You will have to take the engine out to be able to remove the crank. Be sure you have the one piece rod bearings put in at the wrist pin, and put in the updated lower rod bearing kit. That will make the Wakashau last a little longer.

Good advice on the wrist pins and lower rod bearing kits. I have seen too many Waukesha's overhauled on the cheap only to have the engine develope huge holes in the crankcase and block. The rebuilder needs to be aware of these upgrades.

Good advice guys. I must add that it is well worth the additional 100-200 dollars to have the crank balanced. Adam, please refer to my post at bottom of page on Oliver/Waukesha engines for more details on the 310 in your 1755.
